The REAL issue with sin

Updated: Feb 27

Here's the problem with sin

Sin drags us down and lowers our standard and quality of life. This is Satan's intention (John 10:10). He wants to make us depraved, immoral, corrupted, and completely stripped of virtue and excellence.

If we take a step back and examine sin, we will see its worthlessness.

sin

Sin causes us to do things that are unnatural, degrading, harmful, embarrassing, pointless, and can put our life at risk, often without realizing it.

It's deception at its highest form and blinds us from the truth (John 8:32).

Sin offers absolutely no value (Romans 3:23; 6:23; James 1:15).

Is sins pleasure worth it?

The hold or strong influence that sin carries, is it truly worth the consequence?

Galatians 5:19-21 answers the question. it says, "Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."

Sinning prevents us from inheriting the kingdom of God, making it not worthwhile.

"He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee with him and began to feel sorrowful and deeply troubled...He said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” (Matthew 26:37,38).

This reaction of Jesus demonstrates His understanding of how dark, bleak, burdensome, emotionally damaging, traumatic, intense, and painful it can be without God and the impact of sin on us.

Many of us have not experienced or is unaware of what it feels like to be without God because some of our lives have been shielded. However, there are those who haven't lived a protected life, and others who have passed away and are now eternally separated from Christ. They have died once and is now facing a second death (Revelation 2:11; 20:14; 21:8, Romans 6:23; Daniel 12:2).

Jesus can see life from both the natural and spiritual, and is fully aware of the true horror of sin. He understands how overwhelming it is to endure and bear the sins of the world (Matthew 26:39). Yet, His love for us is so deep that He was willing to do what it took to conquer sin and be the one we can turn to in order to no longer suffer under sin's weight.

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! — 1 Corinthians 15:54-57

Holiness

Psalm 93:5 speaks about how God's statutes stand firm and how His holiness adorns His kingdom for endless days.

"Holiness" represents God's complete purity, separateness, and moral excellence. The Hebrew term "קֹדֶשׁ" (qodesh) refers to something that is set apart and sacred. In this verse, holiness is not only a trait of God but also a standard for His dwelling and His people. Ref: BibleHub

It summons believers to lead a life of purity and commitment, mirroring God's nature in their actions by living in a way that honors Him.

God’s holiness adorns His kingdom, making His dwelling a place of beauty and purity. The Hebrew word "נָאָה" (na'ah) means "fitting" or "beautiful," emphasizing that holiness is the perfect adornment for God's house. As His church and temples, believers are encouraged to embody this holiness in our hearts and lives. Ref: BibleHub

Enjoyment doesn't have to involve sinning

We can experience pleasure without sinning. Genuine happiness, joy, gladness, enjoyment, and fulfillment arise when you take delight in the Lord, as He will satisfy the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). For the Lord delights in those who revere Him, in those who hope in His unwavering love (Psalm 147:11).

Sin is a deception from the enemy, who is good at "hyping it up" and excels at promoting it.

We might not be perfect or start off perfect, but we have the ability to improve. We can rid sins from our lives and never commit them again.

A call for salvation

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, His spirit will become one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You don't have to go through someone else to get to God, as you and Him are now one.

All you must do is receive salvation, simply choosing to repent of your sins and welcome Jesus into your life by confessing Him as Lord. In Romans 10:9 Paul said, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord  and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:

Jesus, I confess that you are Lord, and I believe in my heart that you died and were risen for my sins. I ask for forgiveness of my sins, and I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior—in Jesus' name, Amen.

After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
