Time: Your Greatest Ally or Worst Enemy

Updated: 2 days ago

Time is one of the most powerful forces we experience in life, yet it’s often underestimated—and in some cases, it becomes the very thing that traps us.

Time: Your Greatest Ally or Worst Enemy

We’ve all heard it said: “Time is your most valuable asset.” And it’s true. Once a moment passes, it can’t be retrieved. There are no rewinds or do-overs.

When we’re young, time feels endless. But, that perception changes as we grow older. Suddenly, we begin to reflect, to evaluate, and sometimes—regret. We think about the things we didn’t do and the opportunities we let slip away. It’s in those moments that the true weight and value of time becomes unmistakably clear.

Why Does Time Feel Faster As We Age?

As we grow older, time seems to speed up. Though each day is still 24 hours, and each year still has 365 days, they don’t feel the same. A full day starts to feel like just half. A year goes by in a blink. Time hasn’t actually changed—but our awareness of its limits has. We come to realize that time is not infinite. It has a beginning, and yes, an end.

But what if time wasn’t a factor?

What if you could exist in a place where time doesn’t exist at all? A realm where minutes don’t tick, deadlines don’t loom, and aging doesn’t matter. Would you still worry the same way? Would fear, doubt, impatience, and anxiety have any place there? Probably not—because in the absence of time, its power disappears too.

A True Story: When Time Tried to Pressure Her

There was a woman in her 40s. She wasn’t married, she didn’t have children, and family and friends began to worry. “Time is running out,” they said. They meant well. But their words carried a weight that began to stir up fear in her heart.

She had started college in her 30s. She was building businesses, chasing dreams. She wasn’t even dating, but the noise got louder: “What are you waiting for? You’re running out of time!”

Soon, anxiety crept in. Thoughts of inadequacy and fear began to whisper: Who will want me now? Is it too late for children? What if I never get married?  Then, something changed. A powerful realization surfaced—one that silenced every fear and every ticking clock. The solution came in one word: trust

Not trust in circumstances or people, but trust in someone—someone who is not bound by time at all. Someone eternal.

Trusting the One Who Created Time

God is not just outside of time—He created it. And when you create something, you have authority over it. You are not governed by it. You master it.

When this woman realized that the Creator of time had also created her and her destiny, everything changed.

She was made in His image, and that meant she could live above the pressures of time. And she understood how God utilizes time to shape our destiny.

With that understanding, fear, worry, doubt, and impatience lost their grip.

What if she hadn’t come to that realization?

She might have rushed into marriage out of fear, settling for someone who wasn't right for her—choosing “good enough” instead of God’s best.

We’ve all met people who’ve settled, haven’t we? You can hear it in their voices. They often speak of what they wish they had, not what they do have. Somewhere along the way, time—driven by fear or pressure—led them to compromise.

The Kingdom of God: A Place Where Time Doesn’t Rule

This place where time doesn’t exist isn’t fantasy—it’s a reflection of the Kingdom of God. In His Kingdom, one of the ruling principles besides love is faith, which at its core is trust in God.

So, if you’re battling impatience, faith reminds you that God will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4) and will withhold nothing good from you (Psalm 84:11). The voices around you may try to rush you but remember: most people don’t know what God is doing in your life. They speak from limited understanding—or sometimes, from jealousy rooted in their own regret due to their own impatience.

If you're battling fear, faith declares that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). And “all” means exactly that—everything. Your age doesn’t disqualify you. Your story isn’t too late. Nothing is off the table. The only barrier is your willingness to believe, not the possibility itself. Only you can stand in your own way (Genesis 17:16-19; 21:1-3).

If you’re wrestling with doubt, faith tells you that God finishes what He starts (Philippians 1:4–6). His promises are never empty (Isaiah 55:11), and His plans are always for your good (3 John 2). He doesn’t abandon His purpose for you—He completes it (Psalm 138:8).

And if you’re burdened by worry, faith assures you: God’s got you.

So, Is Time Your Ally or Enemy?

Time can be your greatest ally—if you align with God’s timing. But the moment you try to follow your own schedule, or submit to the pressure of others’ expectations, it can quickly turn into your worst enemy.

Let go of the rush. Let go of the fear and trust the One who stands outside of time.

A call for salvation

When you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, His spirit will become one with yours. This is one of the greatest blessings of salvation. You don't have to go through someone else to get to God, as you and Him are now one.

All you must do is receive salvation, simply choosing to repent of your sins and welcome Jesus into your life by confessing Him as Lord. In Romans 10:9 Paul said, "If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Here's a Prayer that you can pray to get saved:

Jesus, I confess that you are Lord, and I believe in my heart that you died and were risen for my sins. I ask for forgiveness of my sins, and I accept you as my personal Lord and Savior—in Jesus' name, Amen.

After this step, pray for guidance to find a ministry where you can grow spiritually, gain knowledge about the kingdom, and begin living the abundant life promised by Jesus.
